Contractor & Supplier Certification

Isn’t it time that you and your company were recognized for your professional expertise and achievement?

Would you invest in continuing education if it meant the difference between being prequalified to bid, or not?

Would you like to gain credibility with the architects & engineers who design your work and the general contractors who control it?

In 1997, RMMI launched its masonry certification program, a series of intensive continuing education courses for masonry contractors and suppliers. 68 masonry professionals from 25 companies have successfully completed the program.

What does it take to get certified?

First and foremost, a commitment to excellence in service, workmanship, and business practices. Second, at least three years’ experience in the construction industry (principals of masonry contracting companies must have at least 5 years’ experience in masonry construction). And finally, it will take up to 14 days of your time over the next two years. Depending on the certification level you seek, you must attend 6, 10 or all 12 program courses (and pass a written exam after each course). Once you complete the program, you’ll be awarded designation as an RMMI-certified masonry contractor, masonry professional, or masonry specialist. Continuing education and re-certification every two years thereafter is required.

Note: You do not have to belong to RMMI to be certified, but RMMI members will receive substantial tuition discounts.

What are the benefits of certification?

You’ll enhance your understanding of every aspect of masonry design, construction, marketing and management. You’ll gain the know-how to grow your business and increase your bottom-line. You’ll earn objective verification of your expertise. And last but not least, you’ll give your customers a valuable prequalification tool. RMMI will aggressively promote your achievement and request that architects, general contractors and municipalities specify the use of RMMI-certified professionals for their projects.

How good is this program?

Very, very good. All of these courses have been designed by RMMI members, who understand the range and depth of knowledge it takes to be a qualified player in this industry. RMMI certification courses are taught by leading professionals in the areas of construction, engineering, architecture, law, finance, management consulting, and human resources. Each participant in the certification program receives a valuable reference binder containing detailed course outlines, applicable technical information, and supplemental reading.

Who should attend?

Every principal and supervisory employee of every masonry contracting company within, and outside of, our organization. This program will also benefit owners and senior professionals (especially sales & marketing representatives) of masonry manufacturing companies, suppliers and distributors. The goal is simple: Let’s all get smarter about everything it takes to serve our customers better and run our businesses more profitably. And, let’s make sure we spread this knowledge to everyone working in the field where it will result in better workmanship and a safer work environment.
